Guidance on the special educational needs and disability (SEND) system for children and young people aged 0 to 25, from 1 September 2014
As a result of the 2014 Child and Families Bill which was passed through Parliament, there were changes to the provision of Special Educational Needs. Statutory Guidance from the Department for Education relating to the provision for Special Educational Needs underwent significant reform.
Special Needs support and intervention goes from the age of 0-25 for those who are entitled to it. Statements of Special Educational Needs no longer exist and have been replaced with EHCs (Education, Health and Care plans). Categories that used to be used to identify students on the SEN Register ‘School Action’ or ‘School Action Plus’ have now been withdrawn.
