Physics At Work

Earlier this term, a group of Year 10 students went to Cambridge in order to take part in a Physics at Work experience day.  This was the 33rd annual Physics at Work Exhibition in Cambridge and, this year, it was held at the Cavendish Laboratory.  The primary aim of the exhibition is to stimulate interest and encourage wider participation in physics amongst 14-16 year olds by showcasing the many and varied ways in which physics is used in the everyday world.

The students visited six exhibits over a period of about three hours, including a short break halfway through. Each exhibit consisted of a short presentation, practical demonstrations, an opportunity for hands-on involvement and time for asking questions.  A useful information booklet provided by the organisers not only supported the exhibition but also allowed teachers to bring back ideas back into their lessons as appropriate.

A great day was had by all!
