What people say about us

Members of the public often email or phone us with positive comments about our students.  It is with great delight that I share some of these with you.

15 February 2019

Dear Mrs Stanislaus,

I am emailing you to attest the touching behaviour of one of your students.

It was a Wednesday afternoon, and I was on my way home from a meeting. I was unfamiliar with my surroundings and I didn't know which bus to take. One of your students approached me. She had the warmest smile and asked me if I was okay. She reassured me that I was in the right place and even told me the time my bus would come. It was such a minor act of good-will but it resonated so deeply.

While I was waiting for the bus, I saw an elderly lady hobbling, attempting to cross the road to her house. Your student approached her, and although I couldn't hear the dialogue, I am sure she offered to assist the lady. I could see it wasn't an easy choice to make as she had been waiting at the bus stop for quite a while and her bus was finally coming. But despite this, she still choose to help the elderly lady. She carried her shopping and supported her while she was walking. The elderly lady looked incredibly grateful.

I asked the student why she did that, she replied, "If I was in that position, I would want somebody to help me".

I didn't quite catch the student's name but I'm sure it was Ola. She is in her final year of secondary school, wears black glasses and has the kindest smile. I hope she is commended.

Even though it was a small act of kindness, it was so refreshing to see that young people, despite all the labels and stereotypes hurled towards them, can still strive to positively impact their community, no matter how big or how small the task is. It has given me a glimmer of hope for the future generation.

Mrs Stanislaus, I applaud you. It is evident that your school shapes compassionate and understanding young women. Please don't stop what you are doing.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully,

Sue Macintosh

Dear Ms Macintosh

Thank you so very much for your heartfelt email.

I received it this morning just before I was leading my whole school assembly. It couldn't have come at a better time, as our theme this month is kindness and we are focusing on this as a school.

Ola is a fabulous student, exactly as you described. When I read your email out to the whole school this morning, you could have heard a pin drop. When I got to her name half way through the email, everyone cheered. I then invited her up on stage to finish reading the email with her next to me. It was very emotional and Ola was so humble.

Everyone, staff and students were moved by what I read out. I really want to thank you for taking the time to write to me and doing so with such detail.

I do sometimes receive positive emails, but not as often as I would like and certainly not with such detail. I guess it is always easier to have the impetus to write to complain, rather than to write to congratulate!

I am sure Ola and the rest of our students will continue to share their kindness and make a difference to their community and to spread love, care and compassion.  Our four school values are Service, Compassion, Justice and Perseverance, this is the code that we live by in school and that we expect they demonstrate in their wider life in their community and beyond, Ola certainly did.

Thank you again very much, I will be giving a copy of your email to Ola and her family, they will be proud of her. Thank you Sue, for taking the time to write to me, it was a very special end to the half term and a good way to start the half term holiday.

Dear Mrs Stanislaus,

There is no need to thank me, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I understand how testing your job can be and know it isn't easy. That's why it was an absolute must that I emailed you, to praise the beautiful values you install in your girls. I'm so happy for Ola. Her family must be so proud. My one wish is for her to never change, she made my whole week! Such an inspiring young woman! I'm fulfilled knowing that the whole school will now know of her thoughtful actions, embodying them and continuing to share their acts of kindness, and again, I must commend you. You've done your job well, with a touch of tastefulness and grace and I wish you all the best in the future.

Have a restful half-term, you deserve it!

Sue Macintosh

I wanted to write to you to let you know about the thoughtfulness of your pupils today.I had collected my daughters (4&6) from Primary school, we entered Tulse Hill station from Avenue Road, my girls were ahead of me waiting at the bottom of the steps of platform 3. Approaching me were 2 girls in their own clothes who basically stopped me from passing, though I brushed pass and apologised for knocking one of their arms they followed me got in front again. I managed to get to my children, they then cornered my 6 year old who was crying, I pulled her away and we ran to the ticket office. The reason for this is there were 3 girls from your school. I have found this out by research, who were very considerate and polite and asked if my daughter and I were all alright. Unfortunately I was so shaken I did not ask their names, but they did then go to Platform 4. Young people are too often criticised, therefore I wanted to pass this onto you.

Kind regards

Heather

"Really great to meet you and your very talented students yesterday. I was blown away by their energy and enthusiasm, as well as their sense of discipline and courtesy. A brilliantly inspiring session. It gave me hope for the future!"

I was on my way home from work after doing a 20 hour shift and got on the 68 to West Norwood. To be honest I was dreading my journey when I saw some students from your school about to board the bus. To my surprise they behaved impeccably. You are definitely doing something right. Keep up the good work.

Regards,

Mak

Dear School,

I am a member of the public who drives by your school every morning on my way to work. It is with delight that I write to commend you on the change of school uniform. The former uniform was depressing and suited nobody, no matter your skin tone. This new school year as I once again drove by the school on my way to work, I saw your new school uniforms. What a refreshing sight! The new uniforms are smart and make the girls look modern and smart. I extend a well done to all of you who thought of this idea and designed the school uniform, my gratitude for your hard work. Congratulations to all of you and best wishes.
