Welcome to Year 7

Dear New Families

Congratulations. We are delighted that your daughter has been offered a place at St Martin's to join our outstanding school. At St Martin’s we are committed to ensuring that your daughter’s move to secondary school is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We are keen to get to know her interests and talents, in order to create a personalised learning experience for her here at St Martin’s.

We are proud to introduce our unique transition programme called ‘Your Journey Begins’.  Each event has a different focus, the first is our Welcome Meeting for parents/carers on Wednesday 24 March 2021 at 5.00 pm. Followed by workshops for students on Thursday 25 March at 4.30pm.

The current pandemic means that we are not able to invite you to school for our usual face to face events and will have to do these virtually. We hope things will change by the summer and we will be able to have our June events on the school site.  In the meantime, we have included the link which will be the same for all the meetings:

Click HERE to access an area created especially for your daughter to help your daughter settle into school in September.  There is also a short film showing some of our facilities and a welcome video from some of our staff and students.  Visit LATEST NEWS to find out what is happening at St Martin's and our weekly Home Learning Showcase HERE.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT OUR POSTPONED IN SCHOOL INDUCTION EVENTS

The latest government announcement regarding the change of date to the final unlocking of covid restrictions has meant that we can no longer invite families and Year 6 pupils into school for our induction events.

On Monday 28 June, we will meet virtually with parents/carers. This will take place between 6.00pm and 7.00pm.  This is the same link we have used for previous events. You can find the link for this event above.

The on-site Year 6 Induction event that was due to take place on Tuesday 29 June has been postponed. We have now planned for this event to take place on Monday 19 July 2021 from 9.00am to 2.00pm.

Please keep an eye on this page for any further updates.

We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 28 June at our virtual meeting.

  • External Inspection: SIAMS Outstanding and Ofsted Good

  • Our exciting enrichment programme that includes The Duke of Edinburgh Award; residential trips to Wales, France and Spain, for Music, Drama and Sports and valuable work experience placements.
  • The exceptional destinations of our 6th Form students who have secured places at many Russell Group universities, including Imperial College London (to read Medicine), Queens University Belfast (to read Chemical Engineering), Warwick University (to read Law), King’s College London (to read Chemistry) and Oxbridge
  • Best Practice Representative in the Parliamentary Review
  • A case study in a publication called Tackling Educational Disadvantage.

This is a very special and exciting time for you and your daughter as she moves from her primary to the secondary phase in her educational journey. St Martin’s is a community underpinned by our Christian ethos and our values of Service, Compassion, Justice and Perseverance.  I am confident that your daughter’s time with us will be happy and filled with many achievements and successes.

Ofsted recognised the work we do with our young people and said “The motto of the school, Caritate et Disciplina – with Love and Learning is driven by all staff in a common endeavour to improve the life chances of all students”

We do hope that you will join us for our virtual events. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact the school and ask for Ms Debbie Pieroulli, Assistant Headteacher who is the lead for our transition programme. She will be able to answer any questions you have regarding these events, or about joining St Martin’s.
