Welcome to Year 7

Dear New Families

Congratulations. We are delighted that your daughter will be joining us in September 2020.  As we are in the midst of a global health pandemic, our transition programme is currently postponed.  We are unable to give you any firm dates, however, want you to know that when we are back up and running, our bespoke transition programme, 'Your Journey Begins' will be central to ensuring your daughter's smooth induction to secondary school and to St Martin's. The information below gives you an outline of our transition programme for you and your daughter.

Our school is open for students from families of key workers and other groups of students identified by the government. Therefore, if you do have any questions or concerns, please call us at the school on 020 8674 5594.

A warm welcome to St Martin-in-the Fields High School for Girls. Transition at any part of a student’s education is very important to us. Whether it is moving up to secondary school from primary school, moving schools, entering a new Key Stage or moving on to post-16 education or training. On this page you will find helpful information about the transition from Primary to Secondary.

The transition from primary to secondary school is an important milestone for you and your daughter. At St Martin’s, we pride ourselves on our transition programme ‘Your Journey Begins’ which starts in March and makes the transition for you and your daughter as smooth and as possible. By the time you reach the first day in September your daughter will be excited about the next chapter of her education, rather than feeling apprehensive. We hope this will be the same for you, as parents and carers!

Our ‘Your Journey Begins’ programme gives you and your daughter the opportunity to participate in events leading up to the start of the school year in September.  This will include:

  • Opportunities to meet with the Headteacher and other members of staff and students

  • A tour of the school to get acquainted with new surroundings

  • Family workshops to support your daughter with Online Safety, Literacy and Numeracy

  • Student workshops to get a flavour of subjects and learning in a secondary school environment

  • An Induction Pack, including the Family Handbook, a friendly and informative  and helpful guide

  • And much more…
