Apply for Instrumental Lessons here.

Music plays a significant role in the life of St Martin’s and is a central part of our worship. Lessons are currently available in the following instruments:

  • Voice
  • Violin
  • Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone
  • Trumpet, French Horn Trombone
  • Piano - classical, jazz
  • Guitar (acoustic, electric, bass)
  • Drum kit

The cost of these lessons is £360 per year payable in three installments of £120.  There are a limited number of group lessons at £180 per year or £60 per term. The maximum group size for these is 3.  Included in the fees are:

  • 10 individual half hour lessons per term
  • Entrance to grade exams
  • Performance opportunities

Lessons take place during school time and timetables are drawn up on a rota basis so that students do not miss the same lessons every week. It is essential that girls copy up any work missed and that they keep up to date with homework.  Students who have instrumental lessons through the school are expected to join the choir. This enables students to develop their aural skills alongside their instrumental skills.

It is important for her to come to all her lessons if she is to make any progress and she must also practise regularly. Ten minutes per day is recommended at the beginning building up gradually; your daughter’s instrumental teacher will advise them on how much practice is expected.

Fees are payable to the Finance Department by cash, cheque (with guarantee card) or by bank transfer. Timetables are also displayed on the music centre notice board. Stamped receipts will be issued for all payments made which you are advised to retain for your records.

If a student wishes to discontinue lessons, then at least half a term’s notice must be given in writing to the finance office and music department.
