We have received confirmation from Ofsted with their findings from the short inspection that took place on 17 May. They have concluded that St Martin-in-the-Fields High School for Girls is a Good school and safeguarding is effective.
The inspection framework has changed considerably and become more demanding since the last inspection in 2014, given this, we are particularly pleased to have retained the Good judgement.
As this was a one day section 8 inspection within the new Ofsted framework, we will not receive a full report, instead, we have a letter from the Lead Inspector setting out the findings of the inspection team. Click here to read this letter. It will also be published on the Ofsted website http://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/
The Ofsted letter highlights many areas of strengths, such as
Focussed improvement planning with effective strategies in place to improve standards that are having a strong clear impact
Effectiveness of leadership
High staff morale
Clear and effective promotion of student wellbeing
Students have high aspirations and feel challenged
The school has a welcoming and inclusive ethos
Provision and outcomes in the sixth form are a strength
Headteacher, Beverley Stanislaus, commenting on this report, said "I am delighted with the outcome of this inspection and a fabulous quote from Ofsted really endorses all that we strive to achieve at St Martin’s. “The motto of the school, Caritate et Disciplina - with Love and Learning, is driven by all staff in a common endeavour to improve the life chances of all students.”
