We Will Remember

Back to Latest News

We held a whole school Remembrance Service today to commemorate those who suffered or died as a result of conflict and, on the centenary of the Armistice, we were particularly remembering all those who fell in the Great War.

Students from all year groups contributed to our poppy wreath which was carried into the service by Luna, our Head Girl. A representative from each year group added a lit candle to our 100 candle tribute. During our service, we reflected on the words that are engraved on the memorial in a cemetery in India known as the Kohima poem. As a whole school we joined together for two minutes silence, during which we listened to "The Last Post".

We ended our service by saying together the last verse of the moving words from the poem called Amazing Peace by Maya Angelou. "We look at each other,  then into ourselves, and we say without shyness or apology or hesitation: Peace, My Brother, Peace, My Sister, Peace My Soul".

Lest We Forget.

Amen.
