Breacon Beacons 2019

Back to Latest News

Earlier this term, a group of Year 7 students spent five days in the Brecon Beacons.  The purpose of the trip was to develop confidence, teamwork, motivation, organisation as well as an appreciation of the outdoors and the geography of the local area.  Students took part in many activities including mountaineering, caving, canoeing and a variety of team games. On a more practical level, they were responsible for their immediate environment, keeping communal areas clean and tidy and clearing up after themselves.   All these were designed to increase independence, resilience, organisation and the ability to work effectively as a team.

Ms Ryan said, ‘Set against an amazing backdrop, the Mountain Centre provided the perfect setting for the pursuit of outdoor living. All activities, despite being testing, provided the students with the tools to develop their inner resilience and enabled them to increase their own self belief.  Thank you to the staff who accompanied me on the trip, Ms Neblett, Ms Kenison and Mr Roden.’

The centre complimented the students on their organisation, good sense of fun and keen participation.
