St Martin's Sixth Form students and staff are celebrating great results in this year's examinations.  Success was achieved across a wide range of subjects and has enabled students to follow their career aspirations, having been offered places in a variety of universities across the country to take up studies in their specialist subjects.

We are pleased that 55% of our students achieved A*-C grades, an increase of 11% from 2018. We saw an improvement in the higher A*-B grades at 26%. We are incredibly proud of all those who have achieved their potential with an overall 96% pass rate which is up 13% from the pass rate of 83% in 2018.

There were some impressive subject performances with excellent results in History and Sociology with outcomes that were well above National. Highlights include:

  • Sociology, 100% achieved A*-C grades, 54.5% at the higher A*-B
  • History, 100%  achieved A*-C grades, 50% at the higher A*-B
  • Spanish, 100% A*-C
  • English Literature, 85.7% achieved A*-C grades, 57% at the higher A*-B grades
  • Religious Studies, 100% pass, 50% achieved A*-C grades, 25% at the higher A*-B

Students who studied vocational courses also performed very well. 70% of the grades achieved in Health and Social Care were at Distinction with 100% at Merit or above, and the outcomes were above National.  We had 100% pass in the Extended Project (EPQ) and 100% pass in Applied Science.

Students and staff have worked extremely hard and deserve these achievements.  We will continue to focus on developing our students through high quality teaching and enrichment as we become an outstanding school in every way.

Beverley Stanislaus, Headteacher, commented: "These results prove that we are delivering high quality education that enables our students to study at the best universities and go on to have high flying careers. We look forward to seeing our former Year 11 students on GCSE results day next week and welcoming them to our Sixth Form in September."
