Sixth Form students and staff at St Martin-in-the-Fields High School for Girls are celebrating impressive results in this year's examinations. Success was achieved across a wide range of subjects including English Literature, Government and Politics, Sociology and Psychology. Students are being rewarded and are following their career aspirations, attending the best universities in the country to take up studies in their specialist subjects. 

We are delighted that 69% of our students achieved A*-C grades with 37% at the higher A*-B grades. We are incredibly proud of all those who have achieved their full potential with an 89% pass rate and here are some highlights of exceptional individual performances:

  • Rafiat has achieved an outstanding 3 A*/A in English Literature, Sociology and History and will be studying Law or Politics at the University of Manchester; her ambition is to be a solicitor.
  • Melissa has surpassed all expectations and attained an incredible set of A and A* results: an A* in Sociology, A in Psychology and A in Biology. Melissa has secured a place at the University of Warwick to study Law and will following in her family's footsteps to be a lawyer.
  • Khalissa has shone in language subjects achieving 3 A Levels in French (A*), Spanish (B) and English Literature (B). Khalissa will be studying Social Anthropology and Arabic at SOAS University of London. Her ambition is to be a founder of a charity for women and children linked to education.
  • Jie-ru has ambitious plans to change people's lives by following a career in the legal profession. Jie-ru achieved 4 A Levels; Psychology (A), Sociology (B), History (B) and Chinese (B). She will be reading Law at the University of Warwick.

There were also some impressive subject performances with excellent results in the new linear A Levels including English Literature, History, Psychology and Sociology. These were the more rigorous and challenging qualifications introduced this year. Highlights include:

  • All results for English Literature were at A*-C grades, 70% at the high A*-B grades
  • All results for History were at A-C grades; 78% at the high A-B grades
  • In Sociology, 86% achieved A*-C grades
  • In Psychology, 75% achieved A*-C grades; 20% at the high A*-A grades
  • In Applied Business, 71% achieved A-C grades; 29% at the high A-B grades
  • In Religious Studies, 91% achieved B-C grades

Students also performed well in the following AS subjects: English Literature (89% A-C grades); Psychology (67% A-C grades) and Extended Project (73% A-C grades).

BTEC students performed exceptionally well:

  • 83% of results for IT BTEC were at Distinction*
  • 100% for Applied Science BTEC; 86% at Distinction or Merit
  • 94% passes for Health and Social Care BTEC; over half at Double Distinction or higher
