Awards evening 2018

Back to Latest News

On Monday 10 December, we held our annual Award Ceremony joined by family members, friends, staff and Governors.  We welcomed back former students and were delighted to have Charlene White, journalist and Newsreader as our guest speaker.

The order of proceedings was beautifully punctuated by performances by Carmar, Fantasia and members of the St Martin's Choir.  Carmar's assured solo violin performance of Gadfly by Shostakovich; Fantasia’s focused reading of her Windrush poem entered this year as part of the Voice newspaper black history month competition; the Choir performing Winter’s Cold by Michael Trotta, showcased St Martin's talented students at their best.

We were all visibly delighted as we watched a stream of young people shaking Charlene's hand and receiving their prizes.  Her inspiring and moving speech gave ‘food for thought’ and excellent advice for the future to all the students.

Congratulations to all students who collected a prize, we applaud you.

Special Prizes were awarded to twelve students. This is our third year of awarding prizes for our four values. This year, the recipients were Apeksha for Service, Cheani for Compassion, Eva for Justice and Roshanda for Perseverance (photos below).  Congratulations to all students who collected a prize.

Afterwards, Ms White made time to speak to many of those present, much to the delight of parents, students and staff.
