CAT Dance workshop

Recently, a group of twenty KS3 students took part in a contemporary dance taster session led by The London Contemporary Dance School.  Participants learnt about contemporary dance, the Centre for Advanced Training and the opportunities to be gained by joining the CAT programme.  As well as learning some challenging routines, the girls were set the challenge of choreographing and performing their own dance pieces.

The Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) is part of a national intensive dance programme, funded by the DfE, for 11-18 year olds who display exceptional potential and passion for dance.  The aim of the scheme is to help identify and assist children with exceptional potential, regardless of their personal circumstances, to benefit from world-class specialist training as part of a broad and balanced education, which will enable  them, if they choose, to proceed towards self-sustaining careers in music and dance.
