St Martin-in-the-Fields High School For Girls - a Church of England School in South London

Olympics Welcome

Mrs Stanislaus, Mrs Eves and twenty two St Martin's students had front row positions in Trafalgar Square at the Heroes Return Team GB event. The event kicked off with the band of the Grenadier Guards and Coldstream Guards giving a rousing rendition of Rule Britannia.

The students were excited to see and speak to so many of the Olympic and Paralympic champions, especially Olympic Gold Medallist Nicola Adams, Paralympic Gold medallist Ellie Simmons and Paracyclist Kadeena Cox who Mrs Stanislaus spoke about in one of her recent assemblies. The students sung along to the live music performed by the Vamps and waved their GB flags and foam hands.

We are thankful to London Youth Games for giving St Martin's the opportunity to take twenty two students to this event, and be part of only 250 students chosen from schools across London. It was a privilege to be amongst the families, friends and fans of the Olympians to celebrate the Rio 2016 success of Team GB's 67 medals, including 27 Golds, and Paralympics GB 147 medals, including 64 Golds!
