Y11 exam results day 2020

Back to Latest News

Exam results days are all about our students and the culmination of their hard work over their years at school. It is an opportunity to celebrate and plan for the next stage of their journey. Today, Year 11 exam results day was not how we envisaged.  Myself and the students had big plans, the day was going to be extra special! Why? We started together in September 2015, me as Headteacher, and this group of students as quiet, shy Year 7s. We journeyed through change together and were looking forward to celebrating at the end of Year 11. We still did celebrate, but not in the same way.

The pandemic resulted in students not being able to sit their exams, then there was the debacle around the results. Even the day prior to students receiving their results, schools were informed not to give out BTEC grades as they were going to be reviewed.

Today, the sun was shining, we were joined at our socially distanced exam results day by students and their families and we celebrated each and every one of them.

I know the students and their families will want to join me in thanking all the staff at St Martin's for their hard work, determination and commitment to have enabled the girls to achieve these results today. A big thank you!

Well done Year 11, Class of 2020 for your strength, your determination, your courage and for all your hard work. So many of you have enrolled for St Martin’s Sixth Form and we are looking forward to you continuing on your journey to success with us.

As a St Martin’s community we have faith and hope and put our trust in God.  Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”.

The staff are very proud of you all and pray that you continue on the path to success. Congratulations, Year 11, Class of 2020 we wish you success and happiness in everything you do.  When the time is right, we will have a proper celebration together.

We were delighted to welcome families as their daughters collected their GCSE results.

A first for us, students collected their results outside the lower gym.  And the sun shone on us all!
