Advent Joy

Back to Latest News

The third Sunday of Advent was the time to light the candle of Joy.  In our whole school Collective Worship this morning, we reflected on the scripture from Luke chapter 2 verse 10 “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”  We are halfway through Advent and the pink candle of joy symbolises the joy that Jesus is almost here. As we lit our 3 candles, the candle of Hope and candle of Peace and the candle of Joy, we prayed for a world full of hope, joy and everlasting peace.   Thank you to the students in Year 10 Shani, Enisse and Ngeso  for sharing their joy with us.  You can watch the short video below.

Our prayer for Joy

Loving God

In this third week of Advent we remember the gift of Joy we have in Christ. Lord, the angels said, “do not be afraid, we have news of great joy for all people”.  The news was the birth of Jesus our saviour and Prince of Peace.

God of love, thank you for the gift of your son Jesus, a sign of your love for us and the gift of joy.  Thank you that you fill our hearts with joy each day and your light shines through the darkness to bring joy here and around the world.  In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen.
