St Martin's Day Communion

Thursday 11th November saw our entire school community leave our buildings on Tulse Hill and return to where our school first began, at St Martin in-the-Fields church in Trafalgar square.

We held a service to celebrate St Martin’s saint’s day, to remember and celebrate the founding of our school by the church in 1699 as well as honouring those who gave their lives in service of our nation as it was also Remembrance Day.

We were greeted at the church by some representatives of year 7 dressed in the traditional 17th century school uniforms. “I wish we could wear this all the time” they remarked, “although the bonnets are  a bit tricky to wear!”

Rev Dr Sam Wells, vicar of St Martin in-the-Fields, led the eucharist service. Readings were given by Head Student Shanessa Prempeh and year 11 representatives Nina Oguama and Enisse Omonbo. Our school choir, led by Ms Wong, sang beautifully for us during communion. It was also a perfect occasion for a rousing rendition of the St Martin's school song.
