Meet the Headteacher

It is my pleasure to welcome you to St Martin's, described by Anglican School Inspectors as an outstanding Church of England School (SIAMS 2018).

St Martin's is a truly inclusive and culturally diverse school, welcoming girls of all faiths and none.  We are characterised by a warm community atmosphere where our girls are inspired to learn and are ambitious for the future.

We are proud of our emphasis on examination success as the key to the door of future opportunities, but we aspire to much more than this.  Our girls will have been educated, not just examined.  Through our offer of a broad and intellectually demanding curriculum, a St Martin's girl will develop a positive attitude, have an inquiring mind and be an independent thinker.  Above all, she will possess one of the most important attributes for today's ever changing world - resilience.

Central to the life of the school is our Christian ethos, underpinned by our values of service, compassion, justice and perseverance.  Students are at the heart of our vision; every girl that comes through our door will be cherished,  grow in faith and develop academically, socially and spiritually.  I am proud that, as a school, we nurture and develop spiritually grounded young women who are confident in their social and academic ability, compassionate and ambitious for themselves and for others, and know that, with God's guidance, everything is possible.

Our commitment to academic excellence and personal well-being is total.  Our vision is summed up by our motto, Caritate et Disciplina - With Love and Learning.  Ofsted (May 2018) praised the work we do with our young people and said, "the motto of the school is driven by all staff in a common endeavour to improve the life chances of all students."

I extend a warm welcome for you to visit and meet our confident and charismatic St Martin's girls.
