Prayerspace 2018

Back to Latest News

PrayerSpace is an interactive experience, giving individuals a place to pray, think, and communicate with God in new ways. For three days in the week leading up to Easter the school chapel was organised into different prayer zones. The activities gave us a chance to think about different aspects of prayer. Looking at a map of the world and news cuttings helped us to pray for the world. We were encouraged to say sorry to God and others through the ‘sorry strings’ prayers. The quiet reflection area was for silent prayer and meditation. We made paper chain prayers for children sold into people trafficking and slavery. In our Mirror area we were asked to look at who we were, to thank God for who we are and to see ourselves as he sees us. The Pipe Cleaner people prayer tree was really popular, as we made models and shapes to represent our prayers and love for friends and family

The PrayerSpace was led by Donna Akodu, a parent of one of our Year 10 students who also leads our St Martin's Parent Partnership Group. She was supported by volunteers from Oasis Church and Holy Trinity Tulse Hill.
