St Martin's was invited to lead the prayers at the Bishop of Southwark’s Lent Call celebration service. Drawing together Church of England schools from across Southwark Diocese, the service celebrated the charities that schools and churches in Southwark supported during Lent this year. A group of our year 9 students led the congregation of 400 people in prayer and thanksgiving. Other schools contributed to the service in different ways. It was wonderful to join with the wider family of CofE schools under the umbrella of the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education and celebrate together. Bishop Christopher thanked the girls for praying so well when they posed for a quick photograph. Mrs Moorey, our school Chaplain, added, “I was really proud to see our girls leading the prayers with sensitivity and maturity, with so many younger primary school children looking up to them” .
“I really enjoyed the dance performance from St Mary Magdalene Primary school” and “There are a LOT of Church of England schools in our area” were some of the comments from our girls.
