Just recently, a group of twenty five Year 8 students visited the London Dungeon on the South Bank. This enabled the students to identify significant events in local history and gain an understanding of the wider historical context of the London Dungeon.
After taking part in an English workshop where they wrote and acted out a script about the 1666 Great Fire of London, the girls were led through the dungeon complete with scary stories and live scenarios. Among the favourites were the Tower Drop, the Boat Ride and the Jack the Ripper scene. Shani and Daneshka summed it up for the group, It was fun and scary. There were lots of different stories and experiences, especially the last ride.’ Overall the students loved their experience of the London Dungeon and some even won a prize for the best written and performed script.
