Work Experience 2019

Back to Latest News

Every July , all Year 10 and Year 12 students undertake a one week block Work Experience, when they recognise and improve their employability skills. This is, for most of our students, their first taste of the world of work and an exciting chance to grasp the concept of work in a real work environment, to start career planning, and look at options for the future. Leading to it, extensive Work Experience Briefing sessions cover Health & Safety issues, employability and interview skills, and students set own personal goals and targets for their placement.

Students all worked hard and did us proud, representing our school values in their various workplaces.  For some, this experience confirmed that they want to train further in a particular career field, and some secured a part-time job. For others, they have found out that they are better suited for a different industry or profession, and this will certainly help them to focus even more on maximising their learning time in Year 11 or Year 13 to make sure they get the grades needed for a particular career.

We are looking at building long-term partnerships with the local business community and volunteer business partners to enhance the curriculum and add relevance to subject areas. If you are a local business willing to set up a company challenge which would involve students, please contact Mlle Bajer at the school!
