Christingle Service 2019

The Christingle service has a very special place in the life of St Martin's. The tradition of making our Christingles, filling the air with the scent of oranges and sweets, as we take our time to craft the perfect Candle topped orange, is the essence of the festive season for many students. The meaning of this symbol, of Jesus as the light of the world, is one that we know well, and celebrate each Christmas.

In our service this year Mrs Moorey, our school Chaplain, invited students to suggest situations in our world that are in need of light and hope. Together we prayed for victims of poverty, homelessness and injustice. As we lit our candles and sang our favourite carols we experienced a moment of Christmas peace; a peace that we want to share with one another, our families and communities this Christmas.
